3 JOTA foxhunts 3 JOTA foxhunts:

One of the most popular Boy Scouts Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA) events we help with is a round of fox-hunting.
We set out several foxes, show the scouts the basics of transmitter hunting, (which ties in with their
orienteering skills) and then turn them loose with radios and antennas. Each round usually consists of
a pack split into 2 groups of 2-6 scouts each, who share equipment and try to beat the other group to
the fox. Sometimes we'll send out a scout to "get lost" and the other scouts have to try to find the lost
scout who's hiding somewhere with a transmitter, so we do a "search and rescue" exercise too.
